![]() new thermal paste + clean fans - ONLY THIS HELPS. ![]() You better be a programmer if you try this. next3r said: when have this temperature fo 80./. There is a workaround, but it involves significant modification of the registry to trick your BIOS, and is not for the feint of heart. If you have software like SpeedFan or Rem0o or the very few others with that capability, itll be able to setup exactly which sensor reports to which area, which fan header etc. I looked into ThrottleStop, but it doesnt work with 11th Gen and up Intel CPUs. Cpu (core/package/socket), gpu, motherboard (case). If you have a desktop, at least you can install a better cooler for your CPU and bigger/faster fans in your tower case, or install water cooling. This is simply a fact of life with the i9-12900HK CPU. So the fan is doing an adequate job of keeping average temps low, but there is still thermal throttling going on even at idle. Although the average temp is an impressive 37-42C, the CPU is constantly hitting 100C for brief periods of time, maybe for a second or so, and HWINFO says thermal throttling is going on and sure enough, if you check max temps, they hit 99-100C. This is on HIGH PERFORMANCE setting with fan speeds set to default. If you can’t find the CPU temp, then click on the button with three dots next to Active hardware monitoring graphs. I was looking at the temps of the GE66 at idle, with no stress on the CPU. Make sure that it is checked on the left. It hits 8550 on Port Royal!!! Same deal with TimeSpy Extreme and Firestrike Extreme, it blows away my GE66 Raider. It uses vapor chamber cooling so it manages to keep temps below 100C. I just read a review on the Lenovo version of this machine, with same CPU and GPU. For example, best score I can get on Port Royal is 7980 I mean it's ridiculous this laptop can't break 8k on that benchmark. If I don't use it on HIGH PERFORMANCE setting I get thermal throttling issues that limit the performance of this laptop. I don't like to use CoolerBoost due to the ridiculous noise. Memory type, size, timings, and module specifications (SPD). ![]() Another one called GPU Temp does a nice very nice graph over the GPU temperature and does a chart from when the program is started, but doesn't show load or CPU temperature/load.I have a GE66 Raider with i9-12900HK and Geforce 3080Ti card at 175W and I have similar complaints voiced on this thread. CPU-Z for Windows® x86/圆4 is a freeware that gathers information on some of the main devices of your system : Processor name and number, codename, process, package, cache levels. Just make sure you are always under 90C (accept for maybe occassional spikes). For some laptops this means full speed (unless you are comfortable undervolting and repasting). It also only monitored the GPU, otherwise it was a step in the right direction. Your fans should always spin as fast as they can so your laptop is in a comfortable temperature range. I tried GPU-Z, but it had such tiny graphs that didn't show the values, and only logged a few minutes. There is probably something out there that does all of this, but I haven't found it when googling. Must be able to log over a longer time, preferably at least 30 minutes, not just 1-5 minutes.Must have graphs that are large enough to show the values. It would be nice with software doing graphs, so I can see how it varied during the whole session. Click on the Monitor icon to view Hardware Monitor. The front page of MSI Afterburner contains the details about the system’s GPU. Now Im playing at 1440 and getting MUCH higher temps, and they fluctuate wildly for no reason I can discern. Cpu would idle in the 20s, gpu in low 30s. I find it interesting to after a gaming session be able to see what GPU/CPU usage and temperatures I had when playing. Download MSI afterburner from the official MSI download center. I was playing Cyberpunk at 4k and getting cpu temps well under 50, gpu temps in mid to high 50s. ![]() I included a screenshot and link in the post for anyone interested. As I wrote in this post I found what I was looking for, but I'll leave this thread open for anyone looking for something similar.
